SHAH ALAM, Jan 30 — The remaining children rescued from Global Ikhwan Service and Business Holding Sdn Bhd (GISBH) homes and placed in protective shelters in Selangor will soon be reunited with their families.
State executive councillor for welfare Anfaal Saari said the process is expected to be completed by early next month, as the Social Welfare Department (JKM) has not sought an extension for the interim custody order (IPO).
“As of last Friday’s court proceedings, four children have yet to be returned. They are awaiting a new court date for case mention.
“We are working to complete the reunification process as soon as possible,” she told Media Selangor.
Anfaal also urged the children’s families to comply with JKM’s conditions to ensure their well-being and protection.
“Parents and guardians must adhere to the terms set by JKM to safeguard the welfare and development of these children. We will continue to monitor their situation,” she said.
Last week, Anfaal announced that children rescued from GISBH care premises were being returned to their families in stages.
She added that all children were released to their parents under a RM500 unsecured bond, which must be observed for a year or until the child reaches 18.
Previously, JKM had considered seeking a court order to extend custody of some GISBH children as their IPOs were set to expire at the end of this month.
On September 10 last year, police raided 20 GISBH premises across Selangor and Negeri Sembilan over suspected human trafficking and other offences.
During Op Global, authorities rescued 402 children and teenagers, aged one to 17, who were believed to be victims of exploitation, neglect, and abuse.
