SHAH ALAM, Jan 29 — Dengue cases in Selangor in the third Epidemiological Week have declined by 68.3 per cent, or 1,778 infections, compared with the same period last year.
State executive councillor for public health and environment Jamaliah Jamaluddin said that last year, dengue cases declined by 1.2 per cent, or by 60,354 infections, from 2023’s 61,080 cases.
“This shows positive results from the implementation of control and prevention programmes, including the state government’s continuous campaign to control dengue cases.
“The state government, including several agencies and non-governmental organisations, are committed to eradicating dengue in Selangor at the community level,” she said in a statement.

To ensure case numbers are controlled, Jamaliah said her office held the Selangor 2025 Dengue Awareness Tour at KSL Esplanade Mall, Klang, on January 23.
She said the event aimed to strengthen cooperation between government and non-governmental agencies to manage dengue cases.
Myriad segments were organised for the event, including a forum titled “Myths and Facts About Dengue Fever”, a sharing session by local authorities and the health office, a treasure hunt, and an exhibition.
“Selangor residents are urged to always take preventive steps by maintaining the cleanliness of their surroundings and spending at least 10 minutes on destroying mosquito breeding grounds,” she said.
