SHAH ALAM, Jan 28 — Selangor has become a premier destination for global tech firms in Asean thanks to its effective economic strategies, said state executive councillor for investment, trade, and mobility Ng Sze Han.

In a Chinese New Year message shared on Instagram today, Ng reflected on the state’s accomplishment, noting that Selangor contributed 25.9 per cent to the national gross domestic product in 2023.

“Selangor was the first state to exceed an economic output of RM400 billion. Additionally, in just the first nine months of last year, the state led national investments, with RM66.8 billion.

“Amid a shifting global supply chain landscape, Selangor has risen as a premier destination for global tech firms within Asean, a testament to our effective economic strategies.

“We are dedicated to continually enhancing our industrial sectors, positioning Selangor as a reliable partner in the global supply chain,” he said in the video, which also featured Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

Looking ahead to the success this year, Ng also highlighted the state’s strong start last year, with a focus on the front-end semiconductor integrated circuit (IC) design and establishment of Southeast Asia’s largest IC design park in August.

Additionally, he said small and medium enterprises have been supported through accelerator programmes, training, and international learning trips to drive innovation within the economy.

“We look to the future with confidence. As we step into a new year tomorrow, let’s unite with humility and determination to advance Selangor’s progress and prosperity!” he added.
