SHAH ALAM, Jan 28 — The Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) on Friday received four prestigious awards at the MIP (Malaysian Institute of Planners) Planning Excellence Awards 2024, organised by the MIP..
In a statement, MBPJ said the achievement reinforces its position as a model city council and that it is committed to formulating policies and initiatives that drive smart and sustainable development.
The local authority said it will also continue leading progressive urban planning and enhancing the well-being and quality of life for the people of Petaling Jaya.
“MBPJ is dedicated to further strengthening efficient, innovative, and effective services to meet the high expectations of both stakeholders and the residents of Petaling Jaya,” the statement read.
The award was presented to Petaling Jaya Mayor Mohamad Zahri Samingon, who was accompanied by his deputy Aznan Hassan and deputy secretary (management) Mohd Fauzi Maarop.
The ceremony, held at Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur, was officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
MBPJ received the following awards:
— Bronze Award in the Placemaking and Public Space Award (Government Initiative) category for the Toy Library@Flora Damansara project
— Silver Award in the Low Carbon Award (Building) category for the Community Library project
— Gold Award in the Community Based Planning Award category for the Strategic Plan Entrepreneur project
— Bronze Award in the “Smart City Award (Smart System/Product)” category for the From Online Billboard Applications to Smart IBillboard System project
