SHAH ALAM, Jan 16 — The Selangor Wakaf Corporation (PWS) collected RM2.105 million in wakaf funds last year from the rental of premises, land, and bazaars.
Its chief executive officer Anuar Hamzah Tohar said the collection involved 74 premises with rental values totalling RM0.684 million, 69 plots of land (RM1.248 million), and 32 wakaf bazaar units (RM0.173 million).
“The rental proceeds from the benefits of this wakaf are distributed to recipients according to the intentions of the donors, whether for mosques, musollas, suraus, or institutions.
“Alhamdulillah, with the benefits distributed, the charity of individuals who practise wakaf has indirectly extended their rewards,” he said during the PWS chairman’s address by Datuk Ibrahim Md Yusof at the Concorde Hotel today.
On his part, Ibrahim urged Selangor residents to embrace wakaf as a cultural practice for benefit in both this world and the hereafter.
“PWS also provides over 100 donation boxes for wakaf at various locations across the state, including payroll deduction systems and QR codes to facilitate the act of wakaf,” he said.
At the same event, PWS also presented cheques to 11 wakaf beneficiaries, including Masjid Jamiul Hasaniah in Klang with RM121,800, followed by Surau Madrasatul Sofwa (RM68,437.50), and Masjid Nahdhah Al Islam (RM67,587.50).
Cash wakaf can be carried out online at https://fpx.wakafselangor.gov.my/ewo_login.asp or through monthly deductions using the PWS Online Form System starting January 1 this year.
