SHAH ALAM, Jan 14 — Two young talents from Advanced Technology Training Center (Adtec), Shah Alam, are set to represent Malaysia at the Asean Skills 2025 competition in Manila this coming August, following their stellar performance at the inaugural WorldSkills Selangor 2024.
The competition, organised in partnership with the Selangor Technical Development Centre (STDC), Skills Development Department, and Human Resources Ministry, and supported by industry players such as Festo, has established itself as a significant platform for showcasing technical and vocational talent in the state.
In a statement today, STDC said the success of WorldSkills Selangor 2024 has not only highlighted the state’s leadership in technical education but has also positioned Malaysia to strengthen its presence in the international vocational and technical arena, particularly with its strong representation in the upcoming Asean Skills 2025 competition.
“The close collaboration between STDC and industry players opens opportunities to optimise expertise and cutting-edge technologies, aligning with the aspiration for industry-driven TVET implementation.
“Industry involvement not only improves the quality of training but also strengthens the confidence of participants, who gain direct exposure to the latest technologies and real-world industrial environments,” the statement read.
The students, Muhammad Haiqal Mohd Shamshuri and Muhammad Ezil Mikhail Edy Safaris, both 20, emerged victorious in the Mechatronics category at the state-level competition, each earning the prestigious Tangan Emas Dato’ Menteri Besar award.
Haiqal, who hails from Kota Bharu, Kelantan, and Ezil, from Jenjarom, Selangor, are currently pursuing their diplomas in mechatronics.
Both students have demonstrated exceptional skills in mechanical systems, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, and wiring installations.
Their success story is complemented by the appointment of their mentor, Ubaidullah Mohammad, as a contestant representing Malaysia in the instructor category at the Asean Skills 2025 competition.
Ubaidullah, a lecturer at Adtec Shah Alam, brings over 15 years of experience in technical education and industry practice, including stints at Eurocopter Malaysia and Elektrisola GmbH, Germany.
The accomplished instructor, who holds a degree from Aachen University of Applied Sciences in Germany and a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia, has a track record of preparing students for international competitions, including WorldSkills Asean and WorldSkills Abu Dhabi.
In preparation for Asean Skills 2025, both students and their mentors will undergo intensive training at STDC’s advanced facilities, which are equipped with Industry 4.0 technologies and state-of-the-art equipment for industry-relevant simulations.
