KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 14 — Bursa Malaysia remained in the positive territory at mid-morning, lifted by continued gains in selected blue chips, led by the financial services, telecommunications and media counters.
At 11.10 am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) increased 6.91 points to 1,592.50, from Monday’s close of 1,585.59.
The index opened 7.38 points higher at 1,592.97.
Across the broader market, advancers led decliners 434 versus 350, while 456 counters were unchanged, 1,119 untraded, and 17 suspended.
Turnover was 1.66 billion shares, valued at RM881.23 million.
Among the heavyweights, Maybank jumped 16 sen to RM10.24, Tenaga bagged four sen to RM13.94 and IHH increased five sen to RM7.15, while CIMB fell three sen to RM8.07 and Public Bank dropped one sen to RM4.44.
As for the active stocks, Velocity Capital inched up half-a-sen to 8.5 sen, Harvest Miracle added 1.5 sen to 20 sen, Nationgate gained two sen to RM2.35 and Industronics added one sen to 4.5 sen, while TWL Holdings inched down half-a-sen to 2.5 sen.
On the broader index, the FBM Emas Index gained 44.52 points to 12,223.89, the FBM Emas Shariah Index rose 48.25 points to 12,223.89, and the FBMT 100 Index climbed 46.50 points to 11,911.15.
The FBM 70 Index added 52.18 points to 18,360.62, while the FBM ACE Index increased 18.26 points to 5,264.29.
Sector-wise, the Energy Index grew 2.81 points to 838.60, the Financial Services Index jumped 75.51 points to 18,908.66, the Industrial Products and Services Index edged up 0.20 of-a-point to 168.48, and the Plantation Index gained 53.33 points to 7,496.28.
