HULU LANGAT, Jan 12 — Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) Foundation, or MBI Foundation, is looking to help 1,000 SPM 2023 dropouts continue their studies in technical and vocational education and training (TVET) fields.

MBI Foundation chief Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said the agency will cooperate with the Selangor State Education Department and others to trace such students.

“The focus is on tracing those who were uninterested in studies at the SPM level; we want to save them from falling into unhealthy habits by offering them a place in TVET.

“It will provide them with career opportunities. Potential students will be identified after Aidilfitri,” he said when met today after visiting Selangor football legend Azman Adnan.

He said MBI Foundation is addressing weak reading, writing and arithmetic (3M) skills through the Didik Kasih programme.

“The PTRS (Selangor People’s Tuition Programme) now encompasses primary schools, which will hold free remedial literacy and numeracy classes.

“Around 25,000 students in the state are not proficient in 3M. The programme will kick off in April after Aidilfitri,” Azri said.

The 2025 Selangor State Budget details an RM1 million allocation to continue the Didik Kasih programme, which is implemented at all schools statewide in cooperation with the Education Ministry.
