SHAH ALAM, Jan 12 — Around 700 people today came together for the first Shah Alam car-free day of the year.
Held at the Shah Alam Independence Square here, the programme was attended by Shah Alam Mayor Datuk Mohd Fauzi Mohd Yatim and his deputy Madiyan Baweh.
The main event — the 5km Spectrum Strides Fun Run — was held in cooperation with Universiti Teknologi Mara, with other segments involving cycling and a leisure walk.

“Reception has been quite encouraging, and, same as last year, we held this event to lower carbon emissions on the road and encourage a healthy lifestyle,” said Fauzi.
The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) held special activities for children, including colouring, archery, a parrot petting zoo, wall-climbing, and a mobile library.
Other activities included aerobics, the Shah Alam Youth Bazaar, crafting by the Shah Alam Gallery, free health screenings, and a performance by MBSA.
MBSA also distributed free Farm Fresh drinks to visitors, and opened the Shah Alam on Wheels mobile office.
