SHAH ALAM, Jan 5 — The Sultan Alam Shah Museum (Muzium Sultan Alam Shah) in Section 14, here, is set to reopen to the public at the end of this month, coinciding with the school holidays, said Dato’ Borhan Aman Shah.

The state executive councillor for housing and culture said the revamped museum will showcase various new attractions, including artefact exhibitions, a 1960s-themed warung display, and an exploration of heritage food history.

“After being closed for several years for upgrading efforts, the state museum will reopen at the end of the month.

“Visitors can expect a wide array of artefacts, including exhibits centred on life events like weddings.

“Other new attractions include displays of traditional houses, a 3D grave exhibit, a Kidzone dedicated to children, and exhibitions on flora, fauna, and musical instruments,” he said.

Borhan said the warung exhibit is expected to draw significant attention as it features vintage equipment from the past, such as an old-fashioned shaved ice machine.

“Staff at the warung exhibit will also wear traditional attire, creating a nostalgic atmosphere and offering a dedicated space for visitors to take photos,” he added.

Previously, Borhan announced that the museum would introduce a modern concept incorporating the latest technology, such as QR codes, to provide visitors with easy access to information.

The museum has been temporarily closed since 2019 for an extensive upgrade involving three galleries, namely the history gallery, the customs and culture gallery, and the natural history gallery.
