SHAH ALAM, Jan 4 — Various plans involving enhancing public infrastructure have been outlined in conjunction with the 25th anniversary of Shah Alam's city status this year.
Shah Alam Mayor Datuk Mohd Fauzi Mohd Yatim said the focus includes improving roads, drainage systems, public transport, and implementing flood mitigation projects.
“We have prepared 10 initial planning schemes, which include the installation of pumps in Section 17, construction of additional routes in Section 32, as well as upgrading culverts and drainage systems in Sections 25 and 33.

“Additionally, we will upgrade retention ponds in Section U20 and Section 5, as well as improve the Cahaya Alam Tunnel intersection from Section U12 to Section 7,” he told Media Selangor.
Fauzi added that the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) also plans to develop green infrastructure including recreational parks, pedestrian walkways, and bicycle paths.
For the first time, MBSA is set to build an integrated animal management centre in Shah Alam to accommodate stray animals like dogs and cats.
“We will establish the integrated animal management centre to house stray animals reported to be causing public disturbance, ensuring they are properly managed,” he said.
Shah Alam was elevated to city status on 10 October 2000, making it the first city in Selangor to receive such a designation.
