AMPANG JAYA, Jan 2 — The state government allocated RM12 million in subsidies to implement the Jualan Ehsan Rahmah (JER) affordable basic necessities sales programme throughout last year.
State executive councillor for infrastructure and agriculture Dato' Izham Hashim said the programme, managed by the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation, benefited 4.5 million residents via 1,200 sales locations.
“Apart from JER, Ehsan Mart supermarkets support residents in facing economic challenges and also serve as food distribution centres during emergencies.
“It is also a strategic step to strengthen food security, acting as a storage hub for Selangor’s Food Warehouse to streamline the food supply chain,” he said.
Speaking to the press after officiating the opening of the Ehsan Mart branch in Pandan Utama today, Izham added that JER locations will increase to 1,700 this year, with subsidies totalling RM15 million.
“Last year’s mega sales during festive seasons will be increased from two to six times this year.
“For 2025, the state government allocated RM30 million in total for food security initiatives, including JER, Ehsan Mart, and food warehouses,” he said.
