SHAH ALAM, Jan 2 — The Shah Alam Stadium's demolition process has reached over 60 per cent progress as of now, proceeding smoothly and 20 days ahead of schedule.

Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI's group chief executive officer Dato’ Saipolyazan M Yusop expressed gratitude for public support towards the development of the Shah Alam Stadium Complex (KSSA).

“KSSA encompasses various developments, including the stadium itself, an indoor theatre, a transport hub, and a park that will provide amenities for residents around Shah Alam and visitors to the stadium,” he told the press today.

Saipolyazan added that a flood mitigation project for Sungai Damansara, initiated by the Federal government, is being developed on a 10-acre site near KSSA. This project is expected to resolve flood issues in Section 13, Shah Alam.

“We have been informed that a contractor has been appointed for the project, and it is currently in the evaluation and design stage.

“This is not just about a new stadium; it is also about addressing local problems faced by residents of Section 13 and the surrounding areas,” he said.

Earlier, Saipolyazan officiated the distribution of 300 food baskets to flood victims in Taman Seri Alam, Saujana Utama, Sungai Buloh. This comes after the collapse of a nearby retention pond, which caused flooding in the surrounding residential areas.

The KSSA development project involves three phases and is expected to be fully completed by 2029. The first phase includes the demolition process.

Previously, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari announced that the first quarter of 2027 will see the completion of the stadium, an integrated terminal, a parking plaza, recreational areas, and training fields.

The second phase will include the construction of an indoor theatre, commercial spaces, a sports wing, and a youth wing, scheduled to begin in mid-2027 and conclude by the end of 2029.
