AMPANG JAYA, Jan 2 — The Ehsan Mart supermarket, which offers basic necessities at affordable prices, continues to expand with the opening of its latest branch in Pandan Utama today.
State executive councillor for infrastructure and agriculture Dato’ Izham Hashim said the state government aims to build 10 more branches this year, following openings in the state constituencies of Sungai Tua and Pandan Indah.
“Ehsan Mart is an enhancement of the Jualan Ehsan Rahmah (JER) programme, which began three years ago. Strategic locations are being identified, and the construction cost for each branch is approximately RM400,000.
“This year, we are opening 12 branches initially, and all 56 state constituencies will have one within three years,” he told the press after launching the supermarket’s opening.

To meet residents' needs, Izham said the range of products sold at Ehsan Mart and JER will be expanded to 12 items, compared to the previous six.
“Last year, we offered products including meat, fish, chicken, eggs, cooking oil, and rice. This year, six more items have been added, including bihun, sardines, disposable diapers, biscuits, and flour.
“The people will also have the opportunity to purchase additional products at Ehsan Mart, apart from these 12 items, at reasonable prices, which are 10 to 15 per cent below market rates,” he added.
The 2025 Selangor Budget allocated RM30 million to implement JER this year, demonstrating the state administration’s commitment to easing the cost of living for low-income residents.
Ehsan Mart is a state-owned supermarket operated by the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation, offering basic necessities at prices 15 per cent lower than the market average.
