SHAH ALAM, Jan 2 — The Seri Kembangan state constituency plans to launch its tourism campaign next month, in conjunction with the Visit Selangor Year (VMY) 2025.

Its state assemblyman Wong Siew Ki said various attractions and interesting locations will be highlighted, as the area offers numerous destinations for visitors.

“We are planning to promote Seri Kembangan or Serdang as a tourism destination, expected to launch this February, as there are many tourist attractions that can be showcased,” she told Media Selangor yesterday.

Wong added that restoring public infrastructure, particularly in tourist destination areas, would be a priority this year.

In line with VMY 2025, key focus areas include Sungai Kuyoh and Kampung Baru Seri Kembangan.

“The public infrastructure in Kampung Baru Seri Kembangan, which is the largest New Village in Malaysia, is currently in poor condition and needs repairs.

“Our focus will be on restoring public amenities, especially in areas with potential to attract tourists. We are currently working on beautifying the landscape at Sungai Kuyoh, Seri Kembangan, which could serve as a photo-worthy destination with the scenic river as a backdrop,” she said.

Wong also spoke about plans to collaborate with local traders in Seri Kembangan to develop souvenirs or products unique to the area, which could serve as attractions for tourists.

Previously, state executive councillor for local government, tourism, and New Village development Dato’ Ng Suee Lim said that Selangor is targeting a transaction value potential of RM11.7 billion via VMY 2025.

He is confident in achieving this goal, considering the meticulous preparations in terms of activities, programmes, and tourism infrastructure, aiming to welcome eight million tourists as projected.
