SHAH ALAM, Dec 31 — Repairs to facilities damaged in the major 2021 floods are among Dusun Tua assemblyman Datuk Johan Abd Aziz’s priorities next year.
He said work has begun on upgrading damaged roads, rivers, bridges and public parks.
He added that a flood mitigation project from Batu 9 and Batu 18 will commence mid-next year, involving a funding of RM512 million from the federal government.
“The state government also allocated RM22 million for river deepening works at Batu 10, Batu 16 and Kampung Melaka next year.
“The focus is also on improving Sungai Gabai. Facilities such as toilets and surau were destroyed in the flood. My aim is to make Dusun Tua a tourism hub,” he told Media Selangor.

Johan added that the Kampung Sungai Lui and Batu 14 public parks will also be prioritised.
“After this infrastructure is upgraded and looks good, it can be used to harmonise sports and entrepreneurship programmes,” he explained.
Johan expressed hope that flood mitigation projects planned for next year are implemented smoothly to address frequent flooding in his constituency.
“I’ve seen that many issues related to floods were raised at the assembly sitting, involving various areas such as Klang and Shah Alam. Drainage matters are frequently brought up.
“May the projects planned for Dusun Tua go well without delays as this area has many rivers, exposing us to floods during poor weather,” he said.
