SHAH ALAM, Dec 29 — The last day of Festival Darul Ehsan Berselawat at Setia City Park, Setia Alam, tonight was made more comfortable as the organisers had installed platforms.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari on Facebook said the organiser installed the platform as the area became muddy after heavy rain.

“Seeing as the Setia Alam Square is muddy due to heavy rain, organisers have taken the initiative to install a platform for attendees’ ease and comfort.

“God willing, we will see you at the Darul Ehsan Berselawat finale tonight,” he said.

The festival, held ahead of the new year, kicked off on Friday.

For the past two days, rain and mud did not stop thousands of Muslims from gathering to selawat, which involves venerating the prophet Muhammad.

The state government frequently holds Festival Darul Ehsan Berselawat, including ahead of the new year and Merdeka Day, as a gathering for Muslims.

This year, the programme was held several times, including during the Central Zone Madani Rakyat Programme at the Kuala Selangor Sports Complex on February 23.

On June 2, Festival Darul Ehsan Berselawat was also held at the Selangor Turath Islami Festival closing ceremony at the Shah Alam Stadium Carnival Square, and on August 31 at the Shah Alam Independence Square.
