SHAH ALAM, Dec 29 — The Selangor Public Library Corporation (PPAS) has showcased various initiatives at the Festival Darul Ehsan Berselawat at Setia City Park here.
PPAS corporate unit Zafrullah Aris said that among the offers were the desktop and laptop loan programme introduced under Iltizam Selangor Penyayang.
“Many people asked about the programme and were interested in applying. PPAS took the opportunity during the selawat programme to explain the programme as if an applicant is eligible, they will be approved immediately.
“Not just that, we also provided an educational playspace for children. We prepared this area so that while parents participated in the selawat, kids could play in this space,” he told Media Selangor.
He added that PPAS also brought a library on wheels and the Ba.Ca BookBike, which is the corporation’s latest service.

Meanwhile, trader Rafizan Roslan, 42, said that although it was raining at Setia City Park, attendees still visited his stall, which sells various sunnah items.
“Praise be to God, even though it was raining, many came to buy sunnah items such as scarves and perfume.
“The state government helped a lot as we have followed the selawat event since it was first held,” he said.
The state government frequently holds Festival Darul Ehsan Berselawat, including ahead of the new year and Merdeka Day, as a gathering for Muslims.
This year, the programme was held several times, including during the Central Zone Madani Rakyat Programme at the Kuala Selangor Sports Complex on February 23.
On June 2, Festival Darul Ehsan Berselawat was also held at the Selangor Turath Islami Festival closing ceremony at the Shah Alam Stadium Carnival Square, and on August 31 at the Shah Alam Independence Square.
