SHAH ALAM, Dec 26 — A range of exciting events will adorn the calendar for Visit Selangor Year (VSY) 2025 in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebrations, said state executive councillor for local government, tourism, and New Village development Dato’ Ng Suee Lim.
The festivities will highlight cultural arts to attract more local and international tourists.
“We aim to showcase cultural elements as unique attractions for tourists. We want to refine and strengthen our tourism sector further.
“Additionally, for other celebrations like (Hari Raya) Aidilfitri, we will make them even more vibrant and distinctive in line with VSY 2025 ,” he said.
Ng was speaking to Media Selangor after participating in the 'Selangor Festive Tourism: A Chinese New Year Experience' sharing session with non-governmental organisations (NGOs), community leaders, and students in Setia Alam yesterday.
He added that the state government plans to upgrade Lorong Gopeng in Klang into a cultural alley, in collaboration with the Klang Royal City Council, NGOs, and private entities for the Chinese New Year.
Moreover, for the first time, the state-level Chinese New Year Open House will be held at the Fo Guang Shan Dong Zen Buddhist Temple in Jenjarom.
“This is the first time we are organising the event at a heritage site, and it will be graced by distinguished guests alongside visitors from various backgrounds,” Ng said.
Recently, the state government, via Tourism Selangor, launched the VSY 2025 campaign with the slogan 'Selangor Kan Ada!' and introduced the official mascot, Spark The Firefly.
