SHAH ALAM, Dec 24 — The Selangor Care Economy Policy launched last month emphasises the empowerment of caregivers for people with disabilities and autistic children.
State executive councillor for women empowerment and welfare Anfaal Saari said this will ensure carers have better support to look after people in the two groups.
“As a community, we must build a more pleasant and inclusive environment for autistic children and their families.
“Strong community support is key to help these families face daily challenges, especially in destroying stigma and raising awareness,” she said on Facebook.
Last month, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari launched the Selangor Care Economy Policy in preparation to face an ageing society.
He said the policy focuses on the five cores — advocacy and promotion, governance and supervision, trained carers and labour, investment and cooperation, and innovation, technology and data.
The policy that lasts until 2030 considers care for senior citizens, children and people with disabilities, as well as stronger support for formal and informal caregivers.
