SHAH ALAM, Dec 24 — The country’s political stability is at its strongest yet since 2008, thanks to the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
This is according to Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, who said the success of Anwar’s administration must be clearly communicated to the public to counter misleading perceptions and anti-government campaigns.
He also pointed out that Anwar is the first Prime Minister since 2018 to maintain office for more than 22 months, now entering 25 months.
“He is leading the largest coalition in Malaysia’s political history, involving 19 parties, and is the first leader to secure a two-thirds majority in Parliament since 2008.
“Anwar’s leadership strengths should be highlighted to educate the public on the importance of political stability in crafting effective policies and showcasing the achievements of the unity government,” he said.
He made these remarks during the Sembang Malam talk show by Media Selangor and hosted by National Journalism Laureate Tan Sri Johan Jaaffar last night.
Amirudin gave a nearly perfect score to Anwar’s administration since it took over Putrajaya’s hot seat in November 2022.
The Gombak MP awarded the Prime Minister nine out of 10 points, describing Anwar as a dedicated politician who works tirelessly for the country.
“However, Anwar’s prominence as a leader means he has to bear the burden of work and criticism alone.
“I’m not saying the cabinet isn’t functioning, but it means the public views the Unity Government as Anwar Ibrahim’s government. This is positive for his image, but when there’s criticism, he has to face it alone.
“This is a reality that must be acknowledged, and I believe that ideally, Cabinet members should share the workload and the popularity,” he said.
