Bangladesh seeks extradition of ousted leader Hasina from India

NEW DELHI, Dec 23 — Bangladesh is seeking ousted premier Sheikh Hasina's extradition from India.

"We sent a note verbale to the Indian government saying that the Bangladesh government wants her back here for the judicial process," the interim government's foreign adviser Touhid Hossain told the press at the Foreign Ministry in Dhaka today, according to state news agency Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha.

Hasina fled to India on August 5 after weeks of mass protests against her rule.

The former prime minister and many of her Awami League party leaders face legal cases in connection with alleged enforced disappearances and killings during the protests.

Bangladesh's International Crimes Tribunal in October issued an arrest warrant for her.
