SHAH ALAM, Dec 23 — The Shah Alam Stadium's demolition process has reached 56.8 per cent completion as of last week, said Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI's group chief executive officer Datuk Saipolyazan M Yusop.

The first phase, which involves the demolition of the building, is progressing smoothly and ahead of schedule, with reconstruction expected to begin around May next year.

"Work to prepare the platform for the new Shah Alam Stadium is actively underway, while less than half of the old stadium structure remains standing," he said when contacted.

The Shah Alam Sports Complex (KSSA) development project, which consists of three phases, is expected to be fully completed by 2029, with the first phase covering the demolition process.

Previously, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the first quarter of 2027 will see the completion of the stadium, an integrated terminal, a parking plaza, recreational areas, and training fields.

The second phase will include the construction of a closed theatre, commercial spaces, a sports wing, and a youth wing, which are expected to commence in mid-2027 and continue until the end of 2029.

The construction of a hotel is planned to begin in 2028 as part of KSSA's third phase.

MRCB Land Sdn Bhd's subsidiary Lembaran Prospek Sdn Bhd has been appointed to carry out the demolition work, while KSSA's development involves separate agreements.

The demolition employs conventional methods without explosives to minimise noise, dust, and water disturbances to nearby residents.
