KUANTAN, Dec 21 — Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI, allocates RM45 million a year to ensure the people’s well-being.
Yayasan MBI chief Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said most of the funding is channelled to the education sector to equip youth with knowledge.
“We have allocated about RM10 million to implement the Selangor People’s Tuition Programme. This is not a meagre amount, as we want to empower students and Selangor is the only state that has this programme.
“Selangor (university) students from B40 families with incomes under RM5,000 are also offered aid in the form of laptops or tablets. MBI also helps with tuition, rent and expenses via zakat refunds,” he said.

He said this as a panellist during the #KitaSelangor East Coast Zone Graduates Roadshow attendees at Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah today.
Azri said Platform Selangor (PLATS), which is a medium for entrepreneurs to generate an income, will be introduced to higher learning students next year.
He added that PLATS Siswa will help student entrepreneurs obtain capital and business knowledge.

During the event, Azri announced the handover of internet data-equipped SIM cards, valid for a year, to students who attend the roadshow from March.
He also said students will be registered under the Selangor General Insurance Scheme.
