SEPANG, Dec 18 – The Sepang Municipal Council (MPSepang) will prioritise 10 high-impact projects next year worth about RM50 million to foster sustainable development in the district, said its deputy president Muhamad Shah Osmin.

Shah said that with the assessment rate hike next year, various public facilities and infrastructure, including roads, streetlights, drains, and parks, will be upgraded.

He pointed to several planned projects such as the three-storey bus terminal on Persiaran Multimedia, Cyberjaya, which is set to be completed by November 2026, along with two public parks in Sepang Putra.

Additionally, the MPSepang will build a community complex in Kampung Dato’ Abu Bakar Baginda, Sungai Merab, and a community hall in Taman Arked, Dengkil.

Other initiatives include upgrading the landscaping of Taman Cempaka recreational park in Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi and the football field at Jalan Putra Perdana 1/2, Taman Putra Perdana.

“This commitment signifies a significant step in strengthening services for residents, ensuring that residential areas remain comfortable, clean, and safe,” he said during MPSepang’s full council meeting today.

Shah also mentioned plans for the replacement of underground cables for streetlight systems along Jalan Dagang Mas and the installation of energy-efficient LED lamps along Jalan Utama Salak Perdana, Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi.

“The beautification of district borders and installation of decorative lighting on the FT29 Cyberjaya-Nilai bridge will also be carried out, alongside social programmes for senior citizens, women’s affairs, youth, and persons with disabilities,” he added.

The revised assessment rates, which will see an increase of up to 25 per cent, are projected to boost revenue from RM150.9 million to RM191.9 million, generating an additional RM41 million.

“MPSepang adopts a structured approach to ensure planned projects deliver positive impacts to the public, encompassing all elements of development, including infrastructure and socioeconomic aspects,” he said.

Shah also emphasised that the higher assessment tax revenue will contribute to enhancing the Visit Selangor Year 2025 campaign by upgrading and improving facilities in tourist areas.

“This includes resurfacing council-managed roads and installing LED lights along roads bordering Selangor and Negeri Sembilan.

“At the same time, we will also upgrade facilities in tourism areas such as Bagan Lalang beach, which will attract more visitors to the district,” he said.

On December 9, state executive councillor for local government and tourism Dato’ Ng Suee Lim announced that property owners in Selangor will receive a 75 per cent discount on the new assessment rates.

They will only need to pay 25 per cent of the total rate hike, which is effective statewide from January 1. Meanwhile, the exemption of assessment tax for low-cost housing in Selangor will continue for the 10th consecutive year.
