SHAH ALAM, Dec 16 — The stability of the current Selangor administration under Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari is crucial to ensuring the state’s continued development and the successful implementation of the First Selangor Plan (RS-1).

This is according to Selangor Pakatan Harapan (Harapan) amidst swirling rumours of political realignments which could see Cabinet member Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz be appointed the new state Menteri Besar while Amirudin heads the other way.

“The RS-1 is a testament to the commitment of the administration led by Amirudin in propelling Selangor to greater heights. Its success is highly dependent on political stability,” the state coalition said in a statement today.

The statement, which was signed by Selangor Harapan information chief Abbas Azmi and his deputies Wong Siew Ki and Halimey Abu Bakar, called for focus on the state’s development agenda under RS-1.

The state coalition also urged all stakeholders to prioritise the well-being of the people over personal or group interests.

“Selangor is known as a progressive state and the largest contributor to Malaysia’s gross domestic product. This achievement stems from political stability and the trust of its people, who have continued to support the Harapan and Unity government during the last state election.”

It also cited Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj’s decree for Amirudin’s government to remain until the end of its mandate as a sign of the importance of continuity in governance.

“This highlights the significance of political stability in Selangor. Any actions moving forward must take into account the interests of the state and its people, not the personal ambitions of specific individuals or groups,” it said.

Selangor Harapan also noted that the administration has introduced numerous people-centric initiatives, such as the Iltizam Selangor Penyayang programme, which demonstrated the government’s responsiveness to public needs.

The statement also urged Amirudin’s government to remain focused on delivering benefits to the rakyat and ensuring sustainable state development, with the coalition aiming to make Selangor a model for other states in Malaysia.

This comes after speculations suggesting that Zafrul, who is Umno Supreme Council member, might join Parti Keadilan Rakyat soon and replace Amirudin as the new Menteri Besar when his senatorship comes to an end later next year.

However, Amirudin clarified on Saturday that the Selangor Ruler had advised him to continue governing the state until the end of his term to ensure stability and harmony in Selangor.
