SABAK BERNAM, Dec 16 — The distribution of grants by the state government to encourage tourism industry players to showcase new and exciting products will begin next year, said state executive councillor for tourism and local government Dato’ Ng Suee Lim.
He said that grants worth RM200,000 will focus on various initiatives to boost the state’s tourism sector, including those that align with the Visit Selangor Year 2025 (TMS2025) campaign.
“The state government has introduced various incentives to tourism industry players, including the latest grants to encourage them to produce their own products that can attract tourists to Selangor.
“The grant will be distributed next year and is open to tourism associations and non-governmental organisations (NGOs). It is also available to industry players in rural areas,” he said during a three-day media Fam Trip programme organised by his office and Tourism Selangor.
During the event, which began Friday, media practitioners explored various attractions, including Sky Mirror, Pantai Redang, Laman Choco, and the firefly habitat in Sungai Panjang.
In November, Ng announced during the pre-launch of the TMS2025 campaign that the state government had approved a RM200,000 grant to encourage industry players to introduce more appealing tourism products.
He stated that the grant, which will benefit 20 industry players, is part of efforts to ensure the tourism sector continues to recover and grow after being severely impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
