SHAH ALAM, Dec 15 — The 2024 Parti Keadilan Rakyat Special National Congress today saw over two-thirds of delegates approve a series of constitutional amendments aimed at enhancing the party’s election process, notably increasing the number of delegates who will vote for the party’s leaders.
Keadilan secretary-general Fuziah Salleh said the amendments would expand the number of delegates responsible for voting on the six highest party positions, as well as for 20 members of the Central Leadership Council (MPP) at the upcoming National Congress.
"This constitutional amendment also introduces the establishment of gender and ethnic quotas," she said in a statement after the end of the Special National Congress at Dewan Raja Muda Musa.
Fuziah added that the new dates for the 2024 and 2025 National Congress would be announced following a decision by the MPP in their next meeting.
The Special Congress, which was attended by Prime Minister cum Keadilan President Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, was conducted in a hybrid format to accommodate delegates from flood-affected areas.
