SHAH ALAM, Dec 10 — Firms formed from the Pioneer Entrepreneur and Tunas Niaga (Protune) programme, handled by Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS), have earned RM31.5 million in sales value over 15 years.
PKNS entrepreneur development manager Yuzawati Yusof said the sales value, which was recorded by secondary school student entrepreneurs from 2009 to this year, is a point of pride, as the programme creates skilled entrepreneurs.
“In its 26 years, Protune logged good achievements involving 29,300 students and 2,442 guidance teachers. As many as 1,182 firms have been established.
“This programme can uncover young entrepreneurial talent by polishing leadership, cooperation and strategic thinking skills to prepare students for the future,” Yuzawati said at the Protune convention here today.

“This shows students’ effort and commitment in selling their products, which include food and beverages, handicraft, and clothing, as well as services such as post, photography, laundry, catering and delivery.
“It is not an easy feat to guide students to start businesses. Guidance teachers play a big role in helping students fulfil the modules,” he said.
At the event today, state executive councillor for youth, sports and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi led the prize-giving ceremony, with SMK Munshi Abdullah awarded the Best School title.
