SHAH ALAM, Dec 4 — The Selangor Disabled Persons Action Council (MTOS) is determined to widen access for people with disabilities (PWDs) to ensure equal opportunity.
MTOS chairman Danial Al-Rashid Haron said various policies and initiatives were planned and implemented to empower PWDs in sectors including education, labour, infrastructure and welfare.
“There are still many challenges to overcome to create a society that is truly PWD-friendly. Thus, we are committed to widen access to education so this group is given equal opportunity.
“We will also increase awareness among employers via training and incentive programmes so PWDs can play an important role in the labour sector,” he said in a statement today.

Danial said public facilities like mosques, schools and community centres that are more PWD-friendly will be improved with the appropriate assistive technology.
He added that PWD welfare will also be enhanced with the implementation of special programmes such as religious studies so their right to practise religion can be defended.
“We in Selangor are determined to ensure no one is left behind in building a nation that is fair and peaceful, where PWD not only have their rights protected, but can actively and productively contribute to the community.
“I wish a Happy World PWD Day to all. May our efforts to empower PWD receive blessing and bring about lasting positive impact,” he said.
While tabling the 2025 Selangor State Budget, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said 2,000 residents aged above 50 and PWD will receive death benefit worth RM1,000.
Amirudin said the programme will be coordinated by Yayasan Warisan Anak Selangor, with an allocation of RM20 million, set to be disbursed from June 1, 2025.
