Floods: Kuskop offers entrepreneurs up to six-month moratorium on loans

PUTRAJAYA, Dec 3 — The Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Ministry (Kuskop) is offering a three- to six-month moratorium on deferred loan repayments for entrepreneurs affected by floods.

It said in a statement today that the moratorium was given as there are entrepreneurs and cooperatives reporting losses due to premises, equipment and business goods damaged.

“During the moratorium, they will have time to focus on recovery efforts without feeling the financial pressure from loans.

“Affected entrepreneurs can contact Kuskop branch offices for more information on flood initiatives,” said the statement.

Meanwhile, Kuskop said it has mobilised a flood aid mission under the National Entrepreneurial Group Economic Fund (TEKUN) for victims at temporary relief centres.

It said TEKUN has provided food to 1,500 victims at three PPS in Kuala Nerus, Terengganu.

In Kedah, the Cooperative Commission of Malaysia through Koperasi Melayu Pulau Pinang Bhd has supplied clean water to residents around Jeneri district.

“Kuskop has designed the implementation of a large-scale corporate social responsibility programme after the floods recede, with various aid initiatives and post-flood cleaning programmes to be implemented by the Kuskop Madani Charity Squad,” added the statement.
