SHAH ALAM, Dec 1 — The inaugural Selangor Education Summit (SES) has become a platform for the state to transition towards the Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR 4.0) and artificial intelligence (AI).

Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said the initiative, involving renowned companies including Apple, Siemens, Dassault Systèmes, and Mendix, offers students and educators opportunities to explore these advanced technologies further.

Emphasis is also placed on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), which serve as the foundation for maintaining the overall educational ecosystem.

"We must not remain merely as users but strive to become creators. Hence, STEM must be prioritised and integrated with AI to ensure that advancements in technology align with civilisation, society, the environment, and cultural life.

"I believe SES is a step in the right direction. It is not just about focusing on one area but about developing the state with balanced progress.

"Of course, we aim to embrace and harness the latest technology to make life easier while safeguarding environmental sustainability," he said during SES' closing ceremony today.

Held at the Setia City Convention Centre, the summit brought together four major expos: the Selangor International Book Fair, the Selangor Research and Innovation Expo, the Selangor STEM Expo, and WorldSkills Malaysia Selangor 2024.

The event, which began on Wednesday (November 27), is expected to attract over 300,000 visitors.
