KUALA LANGAT, Dec 1 — The heritage food festival will be held in Kuala Selangor to promote traditional dishes for the Visit Selangor Year 2025 campaign.

State executive councillor for housing and culture Datuk Borhan Aman Shah said the Selangor Heritage Food Festival will be one of the attractions for both domestic and international tourists, showcasing traditional food artisans from across Selangor.

"We have planned several programmes for Visit Selangor Year 2025, including the food festival, which we previously held in Kuala Langat but will be relocated to Kuala Selangor.

"Similarly, other programmes like Rentak Selangor will continue, and Pasar Saloma, which brings together local traders, will also be part of our line-up.

"We will collaborate with Tourism Selangor as part of our preparations for Visit Malaysia Year 2026 and the Malaysia Games 2026," he said.

In 2022, nasi ambeng was officially recognised as a Selangor traditional and heritage food, a declaration made by the state government via the Selangor Malay Customs and Heritage Corporation (Padat)

Moreover, the state government received a certificate from the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) for organising the largest nasi ambeng feast in Malaysia, featuring the preparation of 2,022 serving trays at Pantai Bagan Lalang.

In addition to nasi ambeng, sate Kajang, synonymous with the town of Kajang since 1917, has also been officially recognised as a Selangor traditional heritage food.
