SHAH ALAM, Nov 28 — The Selangor Education Summit (SES), comprising four main expos including WorldSkills Malaysia Selangor 2024, will explore technological and current skills for the future economy.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the first edition of the expo is aligned with the state administration’s focus — to boost basic knowledge of the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) field.

He said the expo, which is held until Sunday, has attracted the participation of renowned companies such as Siemens, Dassault Systems, Festo, Apple, and KNX.

“Students that have joined courses with these companies, through a collaboration with the Selangor Technical Development Centre, will compete in the famous WorldSkills contest format.

“This effort will help the state fulfil focus needs, including by providing high-quality jobs,” he said at the SES and Selangor International Book Fair launch ceremony yesterday, which was also attended by Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj.

Held at Setia City Convention Centre here, SES, which also covers the Selangor Research and Innovation Expo and Education Expo, is set to draw over 300,000 visitors.

This year, Selangor has allocated nearly RM100 million to develop education and student aid, such as the Selangor State Scholarship Fund and flexi-loans.

Kita Selangor, which was launched July 31, 2023, also encompasses education incentives including the RM200 Kita Selangor book vouchers and technical and vocation training for 10,000 youth.
