SHAH ALAM, Nov 27 — Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd is eyeing a profit margin of RM200 million by 2031, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
He said the target is based on non-domestic water tariff adjustments set by the National Water Services Commission (SPAN) in 2022.
“The state government has a business plan, which was sent to SPAN, to determine certain periods for Air Selangor to obtain profits from overall operations.
“Burdens (Air Selangor faces) are electricity tariff raises or imbalance cost pass-through. This situation has caused Air Selangor to move its (profit margin target) to 2031,” he said in reply to a supplementary question from Bukit Gasing assemblyman R. Rajiv about Air Selangor’s plans to avoid operational losses during the Selangor State Legislative Assembly here today.
Amirudin said the state government aims to reduce national non-revenue water (NRW) to 27 per cent this year.
“The current NRW rate is 27.2 per cent, and Air Selangor is on the right track to achieve 27 per cent by year end.
The NRW reduction “will also contribute to the achievement of a RM200 million profit margin by 2031”, he said.
