KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 24 — The passing of National Artiste Tan Sri Ahmad Khan Nawab Khan, better known as Ahmad Nawab, is a great loss to the nation’s music industry, and he will be remembered as an irreplaceable legend, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He said the country had lost an iconic figure whose immense contributions enriched the nation’s musical landscape.

Ahmad's works and contributions were not only an artistic legacy but also a unifying force within Malaysian society.

“I received the news of the passing of National Artiste Tan Sri Datuk Seri Ahmad Khan Nawab Khan with profound sadness.

“Tan Sri Ahmad Nawab was not just a distinguished composer and musician but also the soul of Malaysian artistry, whose poetic and meaningful creations touched the hearts of millions. His contributions will always be remembered as those of a legend beyond compare.

“My condolences to the family of the late Tan Sri Ahmad Nawab. May his soul be forgiven for all his sins and granted a special place by His side, InsyaAllah. Al-Fatihah,” Anwar said in a Facebook post today.

Ahmad passed away at the age of 92 due to old age at his residence in Taman Melewar, Gombak at 3.15pm today.

The late composer’s remains are expected to be laid to rest at 10am tomorrow at the Raudhatul Sakinah Kuala Lumpur-Karak Muslim Cemetery.
