SHAH ALAM, Nov 19 — The refurbishment of Hotel Carlton in Seksyen 13 as an e-sports house will strengthen the development of the field and unearth new talent.
Kota Damansara assemblyman Muhammad Izuan Ahmad Kasim today said the e-sports field is developing nationwide and opens opportunities for Selangor to organise international-level championships.
“This e-sports house will allow youth to train. The state government’s decision to modify the hotel to an e-sports house came at the right time.
“This is our opportunity to develop e-sports, which has expanded rapidly not only in Malaysia, but also the rest of the world,” he told the Selangor State Legislative Assembly here today.
On Friday, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari when tabling the 2025 Selangor State Budget said RM1 million has been allocated to renovate Hotel Carlton as the state e-sports house and to develop the field.
In July, the Selangor Red Giants (SRG) ended Malaysia’s seven-year world e-sports title drought after defeating the Philippines’ AP.Bren Falcons 4-3 during the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Mid Season Cup championship.
The victory saw SRG take home a trophy and RM4.6 million cash reward.
Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah called SRG’s success extraordinary and historic.
His Highness, who is SRG’s owner, said the team exhibited bravery, persistence and determination not only during the tournament, but since the e-sports project began last year.
