SHAH ALAM, Nov 19 — The state government today allocated RM100,000 to a special task force set up in early October to assess and rehabilitate children reduced from GISB Holding Sdn Bhd (GISBH).

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the funds were handed over to Yayasan Islam Darul Ehsan, as a representative of the task force, to provide the children with essential needs in terms of welfare, education, legal aid and health.

“This contribution is for welfare needs such as equipment at the shelter. We will also study long-term moves for (the kids’) rehabilitation.

“The Social Welfare Department (JKM) will ensure the children have everything they may need and are kept safe,” Amirudin told a press conference at the lobby of Wisma DNS here today.

He said the multi-agency task force, including representatives from the private sector, aids in the rehabilitation and formal education of over 200 children.

“There are over 400 GIBSH children. In Selangor alone, there are over 200. We will be bringing kids placed in other states back to Selangor.

“We will find a suitable location, including (considering) state assets such as training centres and universities, to shelter them,” he said.

Following raids on GISBH premises under Op Global, the state government established a special committee comprising representatives from the Selangor Islamic Religious Council, Selangor Islamic Religious Department, Royal Malaysia Police, and state education agencies to assess the victims.

Also involved are the JKM, Selangor State Health Department, Selangor Zakat Board, Yayasan Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), Yayasan Selgate, Selangor State Taska Association, and private and non-governmental groups.
