KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 18 — The Digital Ministry is in talks with the Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Ministry (Kuskop) to formulate a policy aimed at helping micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) adopt digitalisation.
Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo said the discussions were held with Kuskop and stakeholders two weeks ago.
“MSMEs fall under the jurisdiction of Kuskop, and we are discussing how to ensure they can adopt technology in their businesses.
“Second, we are looking at how we can create an environment that ensures cost-effective solutions for these businesses,” he said at a press conference after the launch of the Impact Study on Artificial Intelligence, Digitalisation, and the Economy on Malaysia’s Workforce here today.
Also present at the press conference were Human Resources Minister Steven Sim and Deputy Higher Education Minister Datuk Mustapha Sakmud.
Gobind said he had submitted proposals and feedback to Kuskop on the policy and will escalate the matter.
“I hope we can conclude the discussion this month, allowing us to make decisions about policy and its next steps by the end of the year,” he said.
