SHAH ALAM, Nov 18 — The Shah Alam Sports Complex’s (KSSA) development is progressing ahead of schedule, with Phase One, which began in July this year, expected to be completed by June 30, 2025, said Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
The Menteri Besar said that as of October 30, the project has achieved 45.81 per cent completion, three days ahead of the initial timeline.
Previously, it was reported that the KSSA project’s initial phase stood at at 45 per cent.

Responding to Gombak Setia state assemblyman Muhammd Hilman Idham’s question about the demolition process of the sports complex, he said the decision to carry out larger-scale demolition work at an earlier stage is essential to align with the LRT Shah Alam Line’s (LRT 3) operational timeline, which is set to begin at the end of 2025.
“If we do not carry out the demolition process after the LRT 3 begins operation, it could complicate the work. Therefore, the demolition must be done early, with extensive demolition required in the areas designated for construction in the first phase,” Amirudin said during the State Legislative Assembly session today.
On November 14, KSSA assured that the demolition process at the Shah Alam stadium is being carried out with strict adherence to safety and operational standards, ensuring that the surrounding area’s drainage system remains unaffected.
It added that this was followed by further assessments conducted on the ongoing demolition work. These include additional measures to manage the impact of bad weather, including the use of existing retention ponds to ensure a smooth drainage system at the site.
Meanwhile, Amirudin said that Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI is currently in discussions with developers to finalise suitable replacement land and agree on payment methods as outlined in the initial agreement.
The focus has been narrowed to two to three potential locations, down from the original eight or nine options.
“The government has identified these locations, and further announcements will be made once the process is concluded,” he said.
First opened in July 1994, the Shah Alam Stadium, with an 80,372-seat capacity, was demolished to make way for the KSSA after the developer received approval from the Shah Alam City Council.
The demolition and reconstruction process of the Shah Alam Stadium, complete with commercial space and a parking plaza, is expected to conclude by 2026.
The second phase will begin in January 2027 and involves a covered theatre, a youth and sports wing, and recreational areas. The final phase will involve the construction of an integrated terminal and hotel, which is expected to begin in January 2028 and end in December 2029.
