KLANG, Nov 17 — Over 2,000 people participated in the Klang Car-Free Day organised by the Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) at Padang Sultan Suleiman today.

Mayor Datin Paduka Noraini Roslan said the carnival was organised to celebrate the first anniversary of Klang's elevation to city status.

“A variety of exciting activities were held, including the Klang Royal City Half Marathon, Zumba, a mini food fiesta, and a mini road safety education carnival.

“I hope Klang's residents will continue to provide strong support and cooperation to ensure the success of the Klang Car-Free Day in the future,” she said during the event.

The programme was officiated by Meru state assemblyman Mariam Abdul Rashid.

In her speech, she praised MBDK's initiative, describing the programme as a way to promote a healthy lifestyle and reduce road vehicle usage.

“I also want to encourage the community to adopt the habit of walking 10,000 steps a day, which will indirectly help reduce air pollution,” she said.

The Klang Car-Free Day event also received support from the South Klang and North Klang district police headquarters, the Klang traffic police station, the Sultan Abdul Aziz Royal Gallery, the Monzo Event, the Road Safety Council, and the Youth and Sports Office.
