Selangor aims for RM2.35 bln in revenue next year

SHAH ALAM, Nov 15 — The state government is aiming for a revenue collection of RM2.35 billion next year, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said the target is based on the current revenue collection of RM2.4 billion so far this year, which exceeds the RM2.2 billion mark.

“This year, we estimated our deficits to be over RM400 million, with an estimated revenue of RM2.2 billion, but the state has achieved RM2.4 billion.

“This may become a surplus budget. The state has set a target of RM2.35 billion, (we) don’t want to be too ambitious… still cautious, but it is a persistent effort to drive the economy,” he said.

The Menteri Besar said this during a press conference after tabling the 2025 Selangor State Budget to the Selangor State Legislative Assembly at Wisma DNS here today.

Amirudin also said Selangor has logged RM4.3 billion in reserves, its highest so far.

“This hasn’t been finalised as usually, at year-end, reserves will be used for certain expenses needed by or imposed on the state government.

“The (administration) expects Selangor’s reserves to be below RM4 billion at year-end,” he added.
