KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 15 — The Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2025 will be held in a single week from October 8 to 11, at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said with a strong foundation in place, the summit is well-positioned to continue building on past successes.
“We are committed to ensuring that SIBS remains a beacon of opportunity where businesses thrive, partnerships deepen, and innovation reaches new heights.
“With this vision in mind, I am pleased to announce SIBS 2025 will return to the all-in-one format and will be held in a single week from October 8 to 11, in Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
“I hope that we would be able to continue receiving your support and look forward to your participation again next year,” he said while delivering his speech at the SIBS 2024 appreciation night, at Majestic Hotel, today.
He highlighted that since its inception in 2015, SIBS has witnessed remarkable growth, solidifying its position as a leading platform for trade and investment in the region.
This growth is evident in the 148.5 per cent increase in booth participation over the past decade, from 400 booths in its early years to 994 this year.
Additionally, potential transaction values have skyrocketed from RM182 million to an impressive RM13.86 billion in the same period.
The summit has attracted more followers and visitors and saw attendance of around 50,000 in the last few years, compared to only approximately 4,000 in its first year.
“These impressive figures underscore our continued commitment to driving economic exchange and positioning SIBS as a leading international business event that brings benefits not only to Selangor, but most importantly, to all our neighbouring states in Malaysia and friends in the Asean region.
“Our progress thus far reflects a steadfast commitment to creating a vibrant, inclusive economy that supports both local and international enterprises,” he said.
Amirudin also expressed optimism regarding the state government’s ambitions in the semiconductor industry.
He emphasised the objective of attracting more companies from China and Taiwan to establish their presence in Selangor, particularly those focused on investing in the design phase of integrated circuits.
“These two are just some of the areas we are looking to expand and should be given requisite focus in next year’s Selangor International Business Summit.
“Don’t forget, we have two other big components which will be fundamental to SIBS 2025, for next year is Visit Selangor Year which also coincides with Malaysia’s Chairmanship of Asean,” he said.
He added that the Selangor government is committed to working collaboratively to help businesses leverage new technologies.
This includes exploring ways to enhance worker productivity and improving government efficiency through the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI).
“That was the guiding philosophy of why I launched the Speed Selangor Policy which will kick off next year, to reduce the processing and wait times businesses currently face when dealing with aspects like the Planning Permission or acquiring your business license after receiving approval of your Certificate for Completion and Compliance (CCC).
“Beginning next year, we aim for local authorities to provide business licenses within 24 hours upon ticking all the CCC boxes,” he said.
