JAKARTA, Nov 8 — Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto officially kicked off his first overseas working visit today, which will take him to several countries, including China, the United States (US), the United Kingdom, and Brazil.
The tour will involve both bilateral and multilateral meetings, focusing on global issues such as the economy and geopolitics, said the Presidential Secretariat’s Press and Media Bureau in a statement today.
Speaking at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in East Jakarta before his departure, Prabowo emphasised Indonesia’s growing international role.
“I believe Indonesia’s position and stance are eagerly anticipated by many. It is an honour for us, and we will continue to maintain good relations with all parties,” he said.
Prabowo departed for China at 10.30am local time and is scheduled to meet with President Xi Jinping in Beijing.
Following his visit to China, he will travel directly to Washington D.C. to meet with US President Joe Biden, who extended the invitation for the visit.
Next, he will head to Lima, Peru, to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit, before continuing to Rio de Janeiro for the G20 Summit in Brazil.
“From Brazil, I will travel to the United Kingdom for meetings with Prime Minister (Keir Starmer). I may also make brief stops in several Middle Eastern countries before returning to Indonesia,” Prabowo said.
