SHAH ALAM, Nov 8 – Childcare centre owners must ensure compliance with established regulations, including mandatory childcare training for caregivers, said Anfaal Saari.

The state executive councillor for women empowerment and welfare said that compliance extends beyond technical aspects such as building and infrastructure standards.

“Childcare operators must ensure their carers complete a 28-day childcare training course provided by the Women, Family, and Community Development Ministry (KPWKM).

“This also includes hiring caregivers according to the child-to-carer ratio based on the children’s age group,” she said at the launch of the Selangor 2024 State Nursery Service Advocacy Programme at the Shah Alam Convention Centre, here yesterday.

At the event, Anfaal said the Selangor government will introduce a special grant for unregistered nursery operators in the state to register services and operations online starting in December.

She stated that through the special grant, nursery operators will receive a maximum of RM5,000 from the total allocation of RM400,000 provided through the special grant.

Meanwhile, Anfaal also encouraged daycare operators to seek advice from the Social Welfare Department (JKM) on any issues regarding guidelines and laws.

“The state government aims to ensure comprehensive oversight of daycare operations to deliver improved services,” she added.

Previously, JKM announced it was actively conducting advocacy programmes to encourage the swift registration of daycare centres.
