SHAH ALAM, Oct 29 — Worldwide Medivest Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of state-linked Worldwide Holdings Bhd, recently bagged The BrandLaureate World Halal BestBrands Award in the Medical Device category for its surgical sutures Vesti brand.
The award signifies the company’s readiness to lead in the halal medical device industry in Malaysia.
“With this recognition, the Vesti brand is poised to strengthen its presence in the domestic medical market while aiming to lead and expand into international markets, particularly in Islamic countries worldwide, through its trusted halal-certified surgical sutures,” it said in a statement today.
The firm added that the Vesti brand is already being utilised by the government via the Health Ministry, as well as in private clinics nationwide.
“With its halal product certification, Worldwide Medivest remains committed to producing high-quality and cost-effective Vesti suture products, aligning with Malaysia’s aspiration to become a primary hub for medical device production and a key regional supplier,” it said.
The award was presented by The World Brands Foundation president Prof K. Johan to Worldwide Medivest chief executive officer Kamal Zaharin Nazir in a ceremony at The Majestic Hotel in Kuala Lumpur on September 12.
Worldwide Medivest, a wholly owned subsidiary of Worldwide Holdings, also supplies other medical devices, including automated external defibrillators and gauze rolls.
Worldwide Holdings, itself a subsidiary of the Selangor State Development Corporation, has a diverse business portfolio spanning property development, environmental management, energy, and medical devices.
