PUCHONG, Oct 20 — More than 3,000 people enlivened the Subang Jaya City Council's (MBSJ) Car-Free Day at the Giant Hypermarket in Bandar Kinrara today.
Subang Jaya Mayor Datuk Amirul Azizan Abd Rahim said the final instalment of the programme for this year was also held in conjunction with the fourth anniversary of Subang Jaya's upgrade to city status.
“This programme has gained increasing popularity since its inception in August 2022, originally known as Good Morning Subang Jaya, before being rebranded as Car-Free Day.
“The event is part of our efforts and initiatives to promote a healthy lifestyle while also reducing carbon emissions or greenhouse gases,” he said in his speech.
More than 15 exciting activities were provided for visitors, including a five-kilometre fun run, a 24-kilometre fun ride, a colouring contest, a dengue awareness and eradication exploration, and aerobics sessions.
There were also exhibits on crime prevention, dengue prevention, recycling, as well as booths by the National Anti-Drugs Agency, the Social Welfare Department, and free health checks from Mahsa Specialist Hospital.
Interestingly, visitors also had the opportunity to use the free Trek Riders demand-response van service to travel to nearby locations.
The programme, from 7am to 11am, also offered lucky draws for electrical items worth up to RM6,000 for visitors.
