SHAH ALAM, Oct 18 — Halal International Selangor (HIS) Toyyiba Sdn Bhd has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a Japanese company to share its expertise in the halal industry.
The collaboration between HIS Toyyiba, a state government subsidiary under Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI, and CM Plus Corporation focuses on bilateral cooperation in the halal sector, covering halal certification guidance and training.
MBI said the MoU was signed by HIS Toyyiba's general manager Muhammad Syaril Showkat Ali and CM Plus Corporation's chairman Tetsuo Fujioka.
“The potential of this strategic partnership will hopefully strengthen and expand the halal business network, not only in Selangor but also globally.
"It aligns with Selangor's aspiration to become a ‘Global Nation’ in the halal industry, thereby driving sustainable economic growth for the state,” it said in a Facebook post on Tuesday (October 15).
Previously, state executive councillor for the halal industry Dr Mohammad Fahmi Ngah said Selangor had been invited to share its expertise in the halal industry ecosystem, especially on logistics services management and halal certification, in Nagoya, Japan.
He noted that Japan is keen to undergo training in these fields with Selangor, as the halal ecosystem in the state and Malaysia is more advanced.
HIS Toyyiba is an initiative aimed at positioning Selangor as a global leader in the halal industry, and it serves as the lead agency for three key initiatives of the Selangor Halal Action Plan 2020-2030.
