KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 17 — At the heart of Selangor’s digital transformation lies a commitment to ensuring technological advancements benefit its people, said state executive councillor for investment, trade and mobility Ng Sze Han.
Ng said the state is all in to create more high-paying opportunities for residents in advanced industries, while leveraging the best available technology to improve their overall quality of life.
He said this in his keynote address on the second day of the Selangor Smart City and Digital Economy Convention, held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre here today.
“Our goal is to create a Selangor where innovation is inclusive, where every citizen has the opportunity to participate in and benefit from the digital economy.”
Also present at the event this morning was Deputy Economy Minister Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib and Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation chief executive officer Yong Kai Ping.
The convention was held under the auspices of the Second Series of the Selangor International Business Summit, which ends Saturday.
Ng said the state’s current initiatives are designed to empower small businesses, support the workforce, and ensure a better future for all.

He added that among the state’s key achievements in advancing the nation’s semiconductor industry is the launch of its first Integrated Circuit (IC) Design Park in Puchong, which now hosts a multitude of multinational companies and key industry players.
“I am pleased to announce the IC Design Park in Puchong now hosts six anchor tenants and seven ecosystem partners, with the expectation that over 400 engineers will be contributing to the park in the near future.
“Anchor tenants include Maistorage, Skyechip, Weeroc, AppAsia, ChipsBank, and SensoremTek Sdn Bhd, supported by ecosystem partners BlueChip VC, ARM Holdings, Cadence Design System, Synopsys, Siemens EDA, Keysight, and the Shenzhen Semiconductor Association.
“This project strengthens Selangor’s role in the global semiconductor industry, creating high-skilled jobs and ensuring we remain competitive on the world stage,” he said.
Ng said the state’s other strategic initiatives already in place include the Selangor Accelerator Programme (SAP) and the Selangor E-Commerce Xccelerator, which focus on driving growth through artificial intelligence, smart mobility, and other innovation.
“To date, 190 startups have participated in SAP, with 41 per cent securing funding. Beyond that, 69 startups have gained international exposure, enriching their networks and insights.”
