KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 17 — The ongoing Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) provides opportunities for traditional Indonesian food enterprises to expand their products into the Malaysian market.
West Sumatra Pavilion representative Ikbal Maulana expressed excitement about the offer, as it presents an opportunity to promote their products and help generate income for the people of Indonesia.

"This is an opportunity we will not miss. They have offered to market our traditional products, including rendang, rempeyek, kipang, and others.
“After this, we might be able to market even more. We joined SIBS after participating in the Malaysia International Halal Showcase last month, which received an encouraging response,” he said when interviewed at the Selangor International Expo (Food and Beverages) yesterday as part of the SIBS 2024's second series.
Local perfume company FUSE Kuala Lumpur representative Aiman Zaki Dzulekfly said the international summit serves as a platform for local entrepreneurs to showcase their products.

He remarked that this opportunity should be taken advantage of, as many products produced in the country are of international quality.
“The same goes for our products, which include various types of fragrances. Our products have also received international demand from places like London, Turkiye, and Dubai. So SIBS is a chance for entrepreneurs to promote their products,” Aiman said.
Meanwhile, hair care brand Candyta Beaute spokesperson Syafiq Baharin, speaking at the Selangor International Halal Conference, another event within SIBS, said the third session of the conference raised significant awareness about the importance of halal certification.

“People usually think halal is only related to food and drinks, but many products require this certification. Now, many people, especially Muslims, are looking for halal products.
“The process of obtaining certification is challenging, but once you have it, the benefits are substantial, including the ability to penetrate global markets. This is advantageous for businesses,” he said.
In addition to the Selangor International Expo and Selhac, the summit, at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, also includes the Selangor Life Sciences Convention as well as the Selangor Smart City and Digital Economy Convention.
